Ed joined the business in September 2001 with a specific brief to generate and manage "non core" Property and Casualty business. Prior to that he held broking and then underwriting positions in the UK and Europe throughout a 24-year insurance career.

In September 2003, Ed joined on the UK/Eire executive as well as the boards of London General Insurance Company Limited and London General Life Company Limited.

His principal responsibility within the business is the oversight and management of the Underwriting Departments in the UK and Europe.
